This will be the third Mystery Quilt Along that I have hosted. Each one has turned out great and the responses from everyone fabulous. Go to my website www.cornercurvequilts.com to sign up for the 2025 Mystery Quilt Maria newsletter.
This quilt was inspired by pictures I took while traveling in Madrid, Spain last fall. The tile work on the Velazquez Palace was beautiful. This neoclassical building located in the El Retiro Park, was built between 1881-1883 and houses rotating contemporary art exhibits.
Materials:
4-1/2 Yards White (Background)
2-1/2 Yards Bright Orange
2 Yards Light Bright Green
1/8 Yard Light Blue
1 Yard Royal Blue
¾ Yard for Binding
3 Yards 108” Wide Backing

Colors can be interpreted differently on each computer, phone or tablet. So I am including DMC color numbers for reference only. The DMC numbers are as follows:
- White Blanc
- Orange 947
- Green 906
- Light Blue 3841
- Royal Blue 796
Recommended Tools:
- 8x2 Corner Curve Quilts Half Rectangle Template [CCQ8x2HR]
- 4x2 Corner Curve Quilts Half Rectangle Template [CCQ4x2HR]
- 2x2 Corner Curve Half Square Triangle Template [CCQ2x2HST]
This quilt can be made with all the same fabric for each color or it can be made scrappy by using many different fabrics. Some of the background pieces can be cut from 2-1/2” strips. Fat eighths, and fat quarters will work great in this mystery. Whether you use your stash or buy fabric from my shop, let’s get ready to make another quilt.
Mystery quilts can get you out of your comfort zone by building new skills and new blocks. The mystery will be presented as a 84” x 84”. There will be an alternative size 52” x 52”.
Share your progress on social media by going to my Facebook page. Please do not including sizes and quantities, take pictures away from cutting mats and rulers.
Let’s change the rotary blade, replace the needle, and oil your machine. We are going to make another beautiful quilt together.

This quilt is 64" x 76"
This quilt is meant to be scrappy. However, if you use just one or two fabrics for each color, it will look great.
When picking the fabrics, you could pick 8 half yard cuts for the 4 yards of background fabric, then pick 5 fat quarters of yellow,
8 fat quarters of purple and 4 fat quarters of blue. Another option would be to make it scrappy and use a lot of fabric from your stash.
